Face-to-face interviews with 1,424 lung cancer patients and 4,543 healthy people were conducted by the researchers, who published their findings in the journal Cancer Prevention Research. They were quizzed on their eating habits and lifestyle, including whether or not they smoked and how often they ate garlic.

The study authors wrote: “Protective association between intake of raw garlic and lung cancer has been observed with a dose-response pattern, suggesting that garlic may potentially serve as a chemopreventive agent for lung cancer.”

The study was published in the Journal of Nutrition, along with its findings.

Ronny Myhre and colleagues focused on the benefits of alliums and dried fruits since a literature search revealed that these two foods have the most potential for reducing the risk of premature delivery.

The researchers looked examined how much-dried fruit and alliums were consumed by 18,888 women in the Norwegian Mother and Child Cohort, of whom 5% (950) had spontaneous PTD (preterm delivery).

They concluded, “Intake of food with antimicrobial and prebiotic compounds may be of importance to reduce the risk of spontaneous PTD. In particular, garlic was associated with overall lower risk of spontaneous PTD.”

Used In Treating Common ColdA study titled “Treatment of the Common Cold in Children and Adults” was published in American Family Physician by a team of researchers from St. Joseph Family Medicine Residency in Indiana.

“Prophylactic use of garlic may reduce the frequency of colds in adults, but has no effect on the duration of symptoms,” they concluded. The term “prophylactic use” refers to using it on a regular basis to prevent disease.

Though some research suggests that raw garlic has the most health benefits, other studies have found benefits in overall allium intake, both raw and cooked. As a result, you can reap the benefits of garlic in a variety of ways.
