Government announces a year extension for NABCO beneficiaries

The government has announced extra year extension for NABCO employees who are yet to secure a permanent job.

The remaining 67,000 beneficiaries of the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) who haven’t secured permanent jobs will breathe a sigh of relief as they’re going not to be ordered off this year.

However, 2 windows; the YouStart program and a Digital Inclusion program will step by step absorb them in batches throughout future year.

Announcing this through the presentation of the 2022 budget statement and policy in Parliament on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta aforementioned the government can through the initiative support these beneficiaries to achieve access to capital, training, technical skills, and mentoring to change them to launch and operate their own businesses beneath the initiative.

He said: “the NABCO program was designed as a short lived stepping stone for young graduates for a amount of 3 years. Within the last 3 years, 100,000 young graduates have benefitted from the NABCO program. With over thirty 300,000 trainees already securing jobs, the government can work to make sure that the remaining NABCO trainees area unit effectively supported to require advantage of the opportunities YouStart presents.”

NABCO, which was introduced by the Akufo-Addo lead administration in 2017 as a part of measures to deal with unemployed graduate situation within the country was to end early this month,1st November,2021.
